Columbia Benefits from Title I Funding
Columbia students and families receive extra benefits because Columbia Elementary receives Title One funds in addition to regular school funds. These benefits are provided to enhance your child’s education.
- Additional teachers to reduce class sizes
- 3 sessions of Full Day Kindergarten
- Every Kindergarten classroom equipped with an aide
- Classroom assistants to help students with literacy interventions
- Teachers receive additional technology
- 1:1 Chromebooks for every student in Grades 3-6 and 1:1 device (iPad) for every student in Grades K-2
- Family Activity Nights
- District Specialists- Mason Wright, Technology; Sandy King, Instructional Coach; Melinda Carpenter, Instructional Coach
- Additional office staff members to assist students and families
- Principal’s Pantry and Food Bank
- Provide a designated time and date for teachers to participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). Teachers have time 2 days a week, for a total of 120 minutes, to meet as a team and review student data, curriculum development, and collaboration with specialists. 7 Teacher Specialists have been hired in order to support this teacher collaboration time.
- Provide a fruit or vegetable snack on Tuesdays/Thursdays. Gives students an opportunity to try something new and help educate them about healthy eating.
